Maryam Malek Design focuses on residential interior design projects ranging from kitchen and bath remodels, to flooring, lighting and color specifications, construction document drawings, space planning, and furniture sourcing.
Maryam graduated with distinction from the Interior Design and Interior Architecture certificate program at UC Berkeley and has worked for several high-end residential and commercial interior design studios in San Francisco, including Orlando Diaz-Azcuy Design Associates (ODADA), Mark Newman Design, and ScavulloDesign. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the California North chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) as the Emerging Professional Committee Chair and on the Board’s Nominating Committee, and is an Allied ASID practicing member.
In addition to working with clients on design projects, Maryam is a part-time Instructor with UC Berkeley Extension, teaching Interior Design & Interior Architecture studio courses.
Maryam’s enthusiasm and passion for design was sparked when she redesigned and remodeled her residence's kitchen and bath many years ago. Having worked in marketing operations at Fortune 500 companies for many years, Maryam has now paired her business acumen and extensive experience working with clients and managing projects and budgets, with her love of interior design.
Fluent in several languages, Maryam loves to travel and draws inspiration from the architecture and nature she encounters around the world, and at home. She is passionate about the environment and works with her clients to incorporate sustainable materials and design solutions into their homes.
In addition to her education in Interior Design and Interior Architecture, Maryam has a B.A. in Mathematics and French, and an M.B.A. in Management, from Lehigh University. Maryam lives in San Francisco with her husband and their little rescue dogs, Jetson, a long-haired Dachshund-Chihuaha mix, and Gemma, a La Pom mix.
